World Bank Warns Nigeria on Oil Revenue as FG, States Share $1bn and N993bn in March 2012

Federation Account: How They Share $1bn and N993.6bn in March 2012
March 2012 was another month of Jumbo allocations when the tiers of government in Nigeria, Federal States, and LG Councils shared a total sum of $1 billion and N996 billion from four different oil revenue accounts. The allocations were from the Foreign Excess Crude Account $1 Billion, Statutory and VAT revenues N834 billion, Budget Differential N152 billion, and NNPC Refund N7.6 billion. While a state received as much as $47 million and N17 billion, another state received $8 million and N3.5 billion each from two account of the four mentioned. According to figures from World Bank, annual remittance flows to Africa are in excess of $40billion and are growing at more than 10% year on year. Additionally, there is an estimated $35 billion of annual savings held by the African diaspora. Peace-Building towards Conflict Resolutions
As a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with great interest in the Disaster Risks Reduction (DRR) campaigns, I received an invitation to attend a 2-Day Seminar organized by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in collaboration with the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) which was held in Lafia, Nasarawa State. The workshop was on Peace Building and Conflict Management for sustainable development in Nigeria, with a theme "Response to Violence Conflict and Disasters" held in Lafia, Nasarawa state. In the recent edition of the Economic Confidential, one Ross Alabo-George seemed to have concluded that the poverty in the North of Nigeria is nothing but a creation of the "Northern elites" that have amassed wealth from the oil fields of the Niger-Delta. Boko Haram and poverty in Northern Nigeria
I'm sure if the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, were stuck between a rock and a hard place, that would be preferable to the spot he currently finds himself over pronouncements made in interviews, speeches and off-the-cuff responses on Boko Haram, revenue distribution and poverty in the country, especially in Northern Nigeria. A Southerner's Letter to President on Fair Revenue to the North
It is clear that because of the meagre take home allocation and the failure of the government to consolidate and explore the already God giving raw materials and agricultural produce as it once were, and the abject inability of the state government to revive these industries has ultimately led to the idleness currently experienced in some northern states and of course the rise of insecurity, most notably the Boko Haram menace.
